Another poem from the In That Chair poem series. Thank you for following along and taking an inside look at therapy through the eyes of me!
In that chair,
she sobs,
tears from the past,
tears that won’t last.
I carefully watch your reaction,
you slip your foot over to hers,
you grab her hands,
a lightness comes over her.
You both are smiling,
laughing even.
I tell you that I rarely see this in clients,
you both smile.
You don’t know it,
but I do and it’s true,
I rarely see these repairs,
these moments,
this love.
Ten minutes later my day is over.
I pack my bags and walk out to my car.
I catch a glimpse of you in the parking lot,
you pick her up,
twirl her around,
and tell her you’ll see her soon.
I rarely see this in clients.
