What Happens When our Children Experience Our Worst Nightmare?

by Dr. Kendra A. O’Hora, LCMFT

Another poem from the In That Chair poem series. Thank you for following along and taking an inside look at therapy through the eyes of me!

In that chair,

I saw your pain the replaying of your own shame,

your trauma,

your story.

He is only seven,

everything is now broken.

My marriage is suffering,

my pain is building,

my child could’ve been a drug addict,

a failure,

anything.

Anything but a victim of sexual abuse.

anything.

how?

why?

will I survive?

Am I enough?
